At NTH, Excellence is more than a Core Value—it’s a mindset that drives how we lead projects, serve clients, and grow as professionals. This past week, we brought that value to life at our 2025 Project Management Academy, a full-day development experience focused on building the skills and mindset of exceptional project managers.
The day began with a powerful message from CEO Jeff Jaros, encouraging us to “Be Bold” in 2025 and beyond. Jeff set the tone by challenging attendees to lead with intention and own the future of NTH.
From there, the sessions covered a range of essential project management topics, including:
- Financial Literacy with CFO Jackie Roehl, who demystified the income statement and balance sheet—empowering project managers to better understand how their work impacts the company’s bottom line.
- Driving Efficiency Through Data and Technology, where Christopher Kokesh, P.E. and Laura Forquer, P.E, CHMM shared practical tips on using tools and analytics to work smarter, not harder.
- A deep dive into Contract Case Studies and Professional Liability Insurance provided by Chris Ferlito of Clark Hill and Kevin Hoppe, P.E., respectively, ensuring our PMs are equipped to manage risk and protect both our clients and the firm.
The afternoon sessions turned the spotlight toward the client experience and leadership mindset. We heard a Key Client Overview, then came one of the highlights of the day: Trusted Advisership from an Owner’s Perspective, featuring candid discussions with clients/partners, Beth Gotthelf (Butzel) and Joel Brown, P.E. (Oakland County). Their perspectives reinforced the importance of trust, communication, and innovation in building successful client relationships.
We closed with a Business Development & Cross-Selling Workshop where Lisa Dilg and Rhiana Dornbos, P.E. encouraged PMs to think beyond individual projects and identify opportunities to deliver greater value to our clients through collaboration across service lines. We capped the day with an Afterglow gathering—where great conversations (and a few laughs) continued in a more relaxed setting.
PMA is just one of the many ways we support continuous learning and professional growth at NTH. We’re proud of the engagement, curiosity, and commitment shown by our team, and we’re already looking forward to seeing how these insights take shape in the projects ahead.
